In 2009, Forest Park Choirs won the Sweepstakes Award at Heritage Festivals in Atlanta. In December of 2009, the choir was featured at Epcot Center at the Candlelight Celebration Concert with celebrity narrator, Whoopi Goldberg. In 2011, the Bel Canto Women’s Choir was awarded the Adjudicator’s Award at a national choral Festival in New York City, while the Concert Choir and Platinum Jazz won 1st place in their categories.
With an education focused on musicianship, many individual singers represent Forest Park at county, district, state, and regional honors choirs each year. Three times in the past 10 years, Forest Park High School had the highest number of singers from any one school selected for Virginia Senior Honors Choir.
These active singers uphold high academic standards, participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, and gladly share their musical gifts through frequent performances.
Forest Park High School is proud to announce the selection of THREE singers for the American Choral Director's Association Southern Division Honor Choirs!
Carrson Baldwin, freshman tenor, was selected for the Jr. High Honor Choir (grades 7-9)
Rachel Pietri, junior soprano, and Jordan Scott, senior soprano, were selected for the High School Honor Choir (grades 10-12)
These students were chosen by audition to represent Virginia in the Southern Division Honor Choirs. The students will participate in a culminating concert in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Their concert is the grand finale of the American Choral Director's Association Southern Division conference!
